Google has just announced that Google Meet Live Streaming to YouTube is now available.

The pandemic was tough on brick-and-mortar businesses, but it was a turning point for internet communication applications like Zoom and Google Meet.

Google Meet is becoming even more powerful by allowing users to stream their meetings on YouTube. It means that you can now broadcast your meetings to a broader audience and record your sessions for later viewing.

These applications gained traction quickly and started to improve upon their competition in all possible ways. With more and more companies slowly inclining towards the work from home culture, these companies know they must constantly improve user experience to stay relevant.

Google Meet has recently released a new feature that allows users to live-stream their meetings on YouTube.

How can you Livestream Google Meet Meetings on YouTube?

The Google Meet live stream on YouTube is a great way to share information with large audiences outside your organization. You can control the presentation, and viewers can pause, replay, or view it at a later time.

This live stream is also fun for businesses to give their audiences a glimpse into jumbled meetings or provide more insights into their creative or decision-making processes.

To get started simply follow Google's guidelines below:

The new Google Meet live stream also requires users' YouTube channels to be connected to an ongoing meeting.

The user support page indicates that the participant whose YouTube channel is connected must initiate the live stream from inside Google Meet. To do this, callers should click Activities on the bottom right, then select Live Streaming.

On the Event Info panel, they can then create a new event or select an event. Here, there must be an event title, privacy level, and language for captions to display on YouTube.

By reviewing and accepting YouTube's Terms of Service, users can now click "Start Streaming."

To enable others to watch the Google Meet Livestream, copy and share the link with friends or colleagues.

Who is eligible for Google Meet Live Streaming?

Google Meet Live Streaming is only available to certain plan members and users. Check out the full list of plans below:

  • Available to Google Workspace Enterprise Starter, Google Workspace Enterprise Standard, Google Workspace Enterprise Plus, Google Workspace Education Plus, Teaching and Learning Upgrade customers
  • Available to Google Workspace Individual users
  • Available to Google One Premium plan members in select countries
  • Not available to Google Workspace Essentials, Google Workspace Business Starter, Google Workspace Business Standard, Google Workspace Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Education Standard, Education Fundamentals, Frontline, and Non-profits, as well as legacy G Suite Basic and Business customers

What are Google Meet features?

Google Meet has been on a tear this year, releasing half a dozen small and useful features. These include picture-in-picture, face hiding, newer pinning, unpinning content methods, and an improved control bar.

To use this feature, YouTube channel owners will first need to get their channel approved for Google Meet live streaming. This process usually takes around 24 hours. Once the channel is supported, users can edit their Livestream settings from their privacy settings.

With this new feature, businesses and organizations can now Livestream their virtual meetings, so inactive participants don't have to join and clog up the forum. It would make Google Meet a lot more effective.

Many people believe that Google's ownership of YouTube gives them an unfair advantage regarding live streaming features. Because YouTube is so popular, companies and organizations will likely choose Google Meet by default whenever they need to use live streaming for meetings. It could give Google a monopoly on the live streaming market.

To conclude, by providing compatible features and improving its usability, Google Meet is undoubtedly planning on qualifying competition and winning most of the video communication market.
