The Royal Hospital Chelsea is a true hospital in the original sense of the word, providing hospitality and a home for over 300 members of the Armed Forces, fondly known as the Chelsea Pensioners.setting. What was an underused industrial wasteland is being transformed into a new part of the city with homes, shops, offices, galleries, bars, restaurants, schools and even a university. It’s a whole new piece of London with a brand new postcode, N1C.
The Issue to Hand
Iconic architecture surrounds pristinely maintained grounds that host the RHS Chelsea Flower Show annually. With the facilities being upgraded to meet the needs of the 21st Century, RHC has embarked on many successful projects, amongst others delivering a solid site wide Wi-Fi network.
Contacting Haptic to propose a WiFi solution that would provide coverage for the Chelsea Pensioner’s many mobile devices was ICT Manager, Isabel Prieto-Cordero.
Of all the many points we had to consider, the building itself was key. Any of the works had to take account of the listed structure. From its distinctive red brick exterior to its beautifully designed interiors the Royal Hospital remains a remarkable and historical building.
